Major brands are keen to boost their sales with colors that match their brand message.
Products dressed in red packaging, for instance, have an attention-grabbing effect on us, and it is a particularly popular color in the food industry – due to its appetite-stimulating properties.
Green radiates peace and harmony, while blue is also noted as "the color of communication," owing to its nature of conveying calm and reliability.
Orange is the symbol of friendliness, brown of elegance, white of purity, and black exudes a soothing emptiness. Each one has a different effect on our feelings.
A great favorite of ours, the Pantone Guide used in the printing industry and updated annually, is a collection of numerous wonderful colors. The color scale patented by the Pantone paint company helps ensure that printing is true-to-life, i.e., color-accurate.
Every year, Pantone also selects the Color of the Year, which in 2021 unusually represents a combination of 2 colors: the marriage of gray and yellow, named 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and 13-0647 Illuminating.
Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, justified their unusual decision by saying that after the year behind us – 2020 – when the focus was on distance from one another and on challenges, supporting each other and maintaining optimism and hope are especially important.
This is precisely what the combination of the two colors symbolizes: the friendship between a sunshine yellow radiating happiness and a gray chosen as the symbol of stability.
We really love the choice.
